Bodkin is expected to be a gripping watch with a backdrop that’s bound to catch subscribers’ attention.
The upcoming dark comedy-thriller will be making its Netflix debut on Thursday, May 9, with all seven episodes dropping in one go so subscribers can binge-watch.
The series focuses on a crew of true-crime podcasters who begin to investigate a cold case where three strangers went missing in the coastal Irish town of Bodkin.
However, the deeper they delve into the events from years prior, the closer they come to finding out the disturbing truth of what happened.
Produced by Michelle and Barack Obama’s production company Higher Ground Productions, Bodkin’s showrunner, who also created and co-wrote the show, are Jez Scharf and Alex Metcalf.

Where was Bodkin on Netflix filmed?
Netflix’s Bodkin was filmed entirely on site in Ireland, across various counties including Cork, Dublin and Wicklow.
Some of the exterior shows were filmed at Poulgorm Bridge and Glandore in West Cork, Travelhawk Beach in Wicklow, as well as Howth Castle and Leopardstown Racecourse in Dublin.
But Bodkin itself is not actually a real place in Ireland, purely created for the seven-part thriller.
In real life, it was actually the fishing village of Union Hall, which is 75km west of Cork City, that actually doubles up as the titular town.

In a statement regarding filming, Scharf commented: “It [Bodkin] had to be West Cork.
“You drive around West Cork and around every corner you have to step out of the car and have a look as it’s so beautiful.
Dove actress Siobhan Cullen agreed: “Union Hall makes the perfect Bodkin.
“It’s so stunning and it encapsulates all of what people imagine about the beauty of Ireland. It’s all here, it’s such a stunning place.”
Why did Harry and Meghan make a Netflix series about their life?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have found themselves at the centre of public attention since they took a step back from senior royal duties in 2020.
In a trailer for the Netflix series about them, Prince Harry told viewers that “no one sees what’s happening behind closed doors” in a reference to how their lives may differ from what the public think about the couple. Meghan adds: “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”.
Reports suggested the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could receive up to $100 million for making the show, although this has been disputed and the true figure is unknown.
Leading the cast of Bodkin are the true crime podcasters Gilbert, Dove and Emmy who are all recognisable from various projects.
Gilbert is portrayed by Saturday Night Live and MacGruber actor Will Forte, while Dove’s Siobhan Cullen featured in The Dry and Obituary.
Meanwhile, Emmy star Robyn Cara was in We Die Young, Trying and Life.
Bodkin premieres on Thursday, May 9, on Netflix.
