Following the previous release of the TYPE 8 INDIGO which was crafted in collaboration with BUAISOU, Ressence is back with a pair of new timepieces. The Belgian watch brand has introduced the TYPE 9, which marks its first 39mm-sized offering as well as the latest effort in furthering its “de-materializing” design approach.
Unveiled in Aqua and Grey colorways, the pair of new references are the lightest and smallest pieces to date for the brand, making a versatile and elegant piece for most wrists. In terms of appearance, TYPE 9 encapsulates Ressence’s quintessential characteristics and minimalist aesthetic, presenting a dial design that is stripped down its essence. This all comes together in a sleek build that’s crafted from grade 5 titanium, giving the watch an airy presence of just 39 grams in weight (with strap included) — a noticeable deduction of 3 grams as compared to a regular TYPE 8.
“The TYPE 9 is the smallest watch we can produce to this day, considering the size of the components. From a distance, it looks very classical, but up close, it
reveals itself as much more sophisticated. It is a modern fit, for every wrist,” says Benoît Mintiens, the founder of Ressence.
Retailing at 12,500 CHF (approx. $14,180 USD), the TYPE 9 in Grey will be available soon through Ressence’s authorized dealers, while the Aqua variant will be released in February.
