Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi is reportedly setting his sights on a move to Liverpool, with the Eagles keen on acquiring one of the Reds' most promising talents in return.

The defender has seen his reputation soar over the past year, impressing for England at the Euros and attracting bids from Newcastle during the summer transfer window.

Despite this interest, Palace remained resolute in their desire to retain their centre-back. Guehi's ambition is to join a Champions League team when he eventually departs Selhurst Park, with Liverpool being his top choice.

His dwindling contract could potentially reduce the fee Palace can command when he leaves London. Meanwhile, Palace are keeping an eye on Liverpool's young talent Ben Doak, currently on loan at Middlesbrough.

The Scottish player's performances have caught the attention of Palace's management, who may consider including him in any deal involving Guehi's departure. Their primary target at present is Rayan Cherki of Lyon, whom they hope to sign next month.

However, if this fails, they are likely to pursue Doak more aggressively, according to The Sun. Middlesbrough are hopeful of retaining him, but this hinges on their promotion prospects.

The 19 year old is eager to return to Liverpool, but may consider moving to another Premier League club if his path to the first team is obstructed. Liverpool have successfully utilised their academy in recent years, but already have a wealth of attacking options.

Crystal Palace's resolve to keep Marc Guehi could be swayed by developments with Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk, who is expected to renew his contract despite it nearing its final six months. Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate remain alternative defensive choices for the Reds.

Palace had already bid farewell to Michael Olise, a key player who transferred to Bayern Munich. Oliver Glasner now relies on standouts such as Guehi, Eberechi Eze, and Adam Wharton, aiming to retain their services amidst growing interest.

Guehi, having stayed post-summer, said: "Congratulations to our owners because they didn't give in. Thank you to Marc, he was always open with me. All the rumours didn't influence his performances. He always told me that he's not pushing to leave Crystal Palace and that is always the most important thing for me."
