Squid Game is finally returning to screens more than three years after it became a global hit. Streaming later this month, the Korean thriller centres around a deadly survival game in which hundreds of players compete for the chance to win a monumental cash prize.

According to the official synopsis, season two picks up three years after Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) won Squid Game and gave up going to the US. He returns with a new resolution in his mind and once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 456 billion won.

Squid Game became a worldwide phenomenon when it premiered in 2021 and went on to become Netflix’s most-watched series of all time. It has since racked up more than 2.2 billion hours viewed around the world, ahead of rivals including Stranger Things and Bridgerton.

The new season sees several cast members reprising their roles, including Lee Jung-jae as Gi-hun, Player 456. He returns alongside Lee Byung-hun as the masked game leader Front Man, Wi Ha-joon as undercover detective Hwang Jun-ho, and Gong Yoo as the mysterious Recruiter.

Squid Game has already been renewed for a third and final season, which is slated to premiere in 2025. But until then, here’s when Squid Game season two is released and how to watch it in the UK this Christmas.

How to watch Squid Game season two

Squid Game season two will be streaming exclusively on Netflix, which is included with Sky’s newly revamped TV and Netflix plans. For £15 a month, Sky’s Essential TV bundle includes more than 100 channels like Sky Atlantic, plus subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+ with a Sky Stream box, the new gadget that streams live and on-demand content to the TV without a traditional satellite dish.

Sky has confirmed the cut off to receive Sky Stream in time for Christmas Day is 9pm on Monday, December 23, with the Sky Stream puck delivered next day via DPD. Sky has also launched the new £25 Essential TV and Sky Cinema bundle, which is packed with the latest blockbusters and Christmas classics like Elf and Love Actually, while the £35 Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle comes with all nine dedicated Sky Sports channels.

Elsewhere, Disney+ is home to a raft of Christmas classics, including Home Alone, The Muppet Christmas Carol and Die Hard. A Disney+ subscription now starts at £4.99 for the Standard with Ads plan, with members able to save up to £25.98 by paying for a year up front on the Standard or Premium plan, bagging 12 months for the price of 10.
