Why are Man City not wearing blue kit against Inter Milan in Champions League?

Manchester City's new Oasis-inspired fourth kit has been unveiled, but the club will only sport it a few times - including for their Champions League opener against AC Milan.

The fresh kit is the brainchild of Oasis' Noel Gallagher, created to mark the 30th anniversary of the band's iconic Definitely Maybe album. Drawing its hues from the album's legendary cover, the kit represents the latest partnership between City, PUMA and Noel Gallagher - who also crafted the font that will grace shirts in cup competitions.

The 'Definitely City' launch also showcases a clothing line designed by Gallagher, modelled by Pep Guardiola alongside first team players in a recreation of the Definitely Maybe cover.

However, supporters eager to see the kit donned throughout the Premier League will be let down, as the club have confirmed it will only be worn in Europe. They state it will feature 'exclusively in select European fixtures, encapsulating the spirit of a club ready to rock on the biggest stages in Europe.

The strip will make its debut in next week's home match against Inter Milan - a re-run of the 2023 final - and will then only be worn away from home in Europe from that point. City face Slovan Bratislava, Sporting, Juventus and PSG away from home in the group stage, although PSG's dark home kit may be the only other opportunity before the knock-out stages.

Gallagher stated: "It's a proper honour. When PUMA approached us at one of the games about designing a kit it took about five seconds to agree to it. It's the same colour palette as the cover of Definitely Maybe: it's unique but it's definitely striking, and I think it looks great. When you see people representing your club, it's important that they look good."

"Definitely Maybe has never lost its magic to me, I just think it's an amazing snapshot of what we were about. With the anniversary, I've been listening to it a lot more than I would ever listen to it, it makes me smile they were great times. It's spawned a great football kit, it's legacy lives on."

The kit is predominantly cream, with light blue collar, sleeves and panels on either side. There is a pink trim on the sleeves and side panels, while the pink badge has a ripple effect spreading out from it - a pattern repeated on the back of the shirt.

The words 'Definitely City' are written on the inside of the collar in Gallagher's handwriting.

The shorts will be plain blue, as will the socks, with the Puma logo and City badge in pink. The release comes as Oasis announced a sensational reunion last month, prompting millions to scramble for tickets for a limited UK tour - with the ticket launch plagued by problems over pricing and queues of hundreds of thousands of fans.
