BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty dismissed accusations of taking an on-air "dig" at BBC's Saturday Kitchen Live host Matt Tebbutt's appearance, after she playfully "scared" viewers with a segment about a monstrous fish. During Saturday morning's BBC Breakfast on May 4, alongside co-host Charlie Stayt, the duo covered some of the day's top stories.

Engaging in discussions ranging from continual developments in election affairs to the urgent need for more foster parents across the nation, they ensured viewers were updated with the latest events. However, it was the tale of a giant fish caught by a local angler that really hooked the audience's attention.

Dubbed the "monster catfish" and measuring a staggering 10ft in length, the fish was headlined as the largest freshwater catch ever secured with a rod. Weighing an incredible 143lbs, it took nearly an hour and three individuals present to reel it into an Essex lake.

Prior to unveiling the picture of the colossal creature, Naga and Charlie found it necessary to warn those with Ichthyophobia- an extreme, irrational fear of fish-- to advert their gaze. Naga then handed over the reins to TV chef Matt on Saturday Kitchen.

Charlie quipped: "Let's ask him what he thinks of the big fish, it's a whopper isn't it?" Matt initially pulled a face of disgust, confessing: "I was just watching the fish, I don't think I'd be too happy about that.

"I'm not sure about that, it's a bit scary.

"Maybe I'm a bit scared of it, it just looks a bit big."

It was at this point that Naga highlighted the benefits of adding catfish to your diet.

She explained: "I looked this up earlier and this is what the internet says: [Catfish are a] fantastic alternative to more expensive meats. They are low in calories and is only 98 calories in a 100 gram portion. It's a great choice for those looking after their weight."

At this juncture, the cook chuckled, as he believed Naga had taken a veiled jab at his weight.

He laughed: "Well, yes I see where you're going with this. Thanks so much."

Naga was quick to deny she had meant anything personal with her remark, assuring Matt: "No I wasn't, it's what the internet said that's all Matt," while he retorted: "For me, thanks."

Luckily, Matt was good-humoured about the awkward incident, promptly introducing his guests on the show and the upcoming segments.
