ITV The Chase fans all say the same thing after contestant gives 'hilarious' answer

The Chase player admits she has poor royal history knowledge

ITV fans were left in stitches after a contestant gave a "hilarious" answer to a history question on The Chase. During Thursday's edition of the quiz show, four contestants were up against Jenny Ryan in a bid to win some cash.

The second contestant to face The Chaser was Lisa from Maidenhead. During the cashbuilder round, her final question was about the history of The Royal Family and who was crowned King of England ten years after Queen Victoria's death.

The answer was George V, who was crowned in May 1910. However, Lisa panicked and couldn't find the right words to say, so she blurted out: "Victoria the Second?"

Many fans couldn't quite believe Lisa's answer and took to social media to all say that it was "hilarious." One person said: "These oh so hilarious answers (Queen Victoria the second, and Chaka Khan recently) take longer to say than "pass" #thechase."

A second chimed in: "Bradley: Which monarch was crowned 10 years after Queen Victoria’s death? Me: King Victoria?… #TheChase."

A third posted a GIF of Ryan Gosling laughing and added the caption: "“Queen Victoria II?” #Thechase," as another person typed: "Help" with laughing emojis.

During the next round against The Chaser, Lisa also suffered another blunder when she got another question wrong about a tennis player. Both were quizzed about the Russian sportsman Karatsev and were asked what his first name was.

The three possible answers were Aslan, Frodo and Hagrid, which are all famous fictional characters from literature. The correct answer was Aslan, however Lisa decided to go for Hagrid and this left viewers reeling.

One person posted on X: "Hagrid??? Smh #TheChase", as another person said: "#thechase Lisa she did not survive." It wasn't long before The Vixen caught up with her and Lisa was sent home from the game show.

The rest of the team were also unlucky against The Chaser. Only two contestants made it through to the final round, as Bethany from Northampton was caught by The Vixen.

Meanwhile, Steve from Bath and Kristian from Cardiff worked together during the last round and only got 12 questions correct. With £11,000 in the jackpot, sadly the pair walked away with nothing as Jenny Ryan caught them with plenty of time left.

The Chase airs at 5pm on ITV and ITVX on weekdays.
