Law Society starts four-day visit to Beijing

The president of the Law Society on Tuesday said members will continue to explore opportunities for the legal sector, as a delegation started a four-day visit to Beijing. Speaking to reporters in the capital, Chan Chak-ming said they met the deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, Nong Rong. Chan said they discussed Hong Kong's strengths, adding that the body will continue to clarify the clauses of the city's homegrown national security law. "The Law Society has the responsibility to continue explaining the clauses of Hong Kong's national security law to society and the international legal community. We have to explain that when compared with some foreign laws, there is actually not much difference," he said. Chan said the delegation would visit the General Administration of Sport and explore opportunities such as settling sports disputes and conducting arbitration.
