KOTA KINABALU (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Forty people, mainly tourists, escaped unscathed when their bus caught fire along the Tamparuli-Ranau road on the Pan Borneo Highway in Sabah at 7.30pm local time on Sunday (Feb 18).
The tourists, whose nationalities were not disclosed, were immediately told by the driver to evacuate from the vehicle when the engine started emitting smoke.
A Sabah Fire and Rescue Services Department spokesman said that the bus was completely destroyed but no injuries were reported.
It took firemen about an hour to completely put out the fire.
It is learned that the tourists were on their way from Kundasang to the state capital when the fire broke out along the road that cuts through the Crocker Range.TouristcatchesfireSabah,passengersescapeunhurt
