After betraying his friends and neighbours, Max's reasons for his plotting have now come to light in a truly devastating way as he continues on a path of self-destruction.
As his family confronted him in tonight's episode, Max (played by Jake Wood) began to reveal the truth to daughters Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) and Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) as well as brother Jack (Scott Maslen).
Lauren threatened to set his contract with Weyland and Co. on fire, but an incensed Max spurred her on.
"I don't care about the money," he raged.

"It ain't about the money Lauren, it's about revenge," Max confessed.
While Lauren couldn't bring herself to set the paper ablaze, in a surprising twist Max took it upon himself to do so.
Lauren continued to storm out, cutting all ties with her father.

Abi then tried to console Max before he screamed at her to leave, describing his youngest daughter as "pathetic."
In the final moments of the show Max, smashed his head against a bathroom mirror in another desperate attempt to self-harm.
With his one shot at redemption up in smoke and no one to turn to, is this the end of the road for Max?
