The rapper made the statement in a new interview with Elton John for 'Interview' magazine
The rapper, who will release his ninth studio album âRevivalâ on December 15, has been especially critical of the President in the past few months, with his distrust of Trump most notably visible in a vitriolic freestyle he recorded for the BET Awards back in October.
Telling John that the subject matter of the aforementioned freestyle was something that he was âdefinitely very passionate aboutâ, Eminem said it was âabout having the right to stand up to oppression.â
âI mean, thatâs exactly what the people in the military and the people who have given their lives for this country have fought forâfor everybody to have a voice and to protest injustices and speak out against shit thatâs wrong,â Eminem said.
âWeâre not trying to disrespect the military, weâre not trying to disrespect the flag, weâre not trying to disrespect our country. But shit is going on that we want to make you aware of. We have a president who does not care about everybody in our country; he is not the president for all of us, he is the president for some of us. He knows what heâs doing.
âAs long as heâs got his base, he does not give a fuck about anybody else in America,â he continued. âBut guess what? Thereâs more of us than there are of them. I still feel like America is the greatest country to live in. This is my opinion. But we have issues that we need to work on and we need to do better.â
Earlier this week, Eminem released the tracklist for âRevivalâ â revealing that the new record will feature an unlikely collaboration with Ed Sheeran.
