The man killed in a shooting just outside Ceres early this month was identified by the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department as 38-year-old Jorge Daniel Quijano.

Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Anthony Bejaran said Tuesday morning there was no additional information in the case to release.

About 2:55 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, deputies and Ceres police officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting on the 3400 block of McGee Road, southeast of Mitchell Road and East Whitmore Avenue.

Quijano was found with a gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's ex-wife, Judy, said their three sons are "devastated" by their father's death. In order to protect the boys — ages 9, 10 and 11 — she said they've been told he died in a car accident.

"He was a very loving, caring, giving person, very loved by my family," she said of Quijano.

"He was a very passionate father," she added, encouraging his son's never to give up on their dreams. Emmanuel, 11, wants to be an NFL player; Isaias, 10, an automotive engineer; and Daniel, 9, an attorney and U.S. president.

"He would always wake them up with, 'How's my NFL player? How's my car engineer? ..."

Her ex, a dairy worker, developed problems, Judy Quijano said, but she wanted to focus on the positive things about him.

The murder investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to call Detective M. Fisher at 209-525-7083.
