‘War Machine’ Found Guilty of 29 Felonies for Assaulting Porn Star Christy Mack

Jon Koppenhaver, otherwise known as the MMA fighter War Machine, has been found guilty of 29 felony counts stemming from the 2014 incident when he brutally beat his then-girlfriend Christy Mack and her friend, Corey Thomas.

War Machine’s attack on Mack was so ferocious that the prominent porn star and dancer testified in court  that during the assault, she believed she was going to die. She was left horribly bruised with punctured lungs and several broken bones.

The incident began in 2014 in Las Vegas, when War Machine surprised Corey Thomas and Mack at her apartment, chocking and punching Thomas while accusing him of carrying on a sexual affair with Mack. After beating Thomas for close to 10 minutes, War Machine ordered him to leave the apartment and not call the police (something Mack had already done without his knowledge). With Thomas gone, War Machine  proceeded to brutally beat Mack. Photos of the incident were posted online by Mack after the incident.

Christy Mack’s injuries were horrific.

War Machine (which is his legal name) was charged with 34 different crimes and was found guilty on 29 of them. Those charges include sexual assault, battery, and kidnapping. The jury deadlocked on the most serious charges of attempted murder of both Mack and Thomas, and War Machine was found not guilty of three other accounts.

Mack tweeted about the news Monday, shortly after the verdicts were announced.

Monday’s conviction is a remarkable fall from grace for the heavily tattooed War Machine, a prominent MMA star who also performed in pornographic films (some with his then-girlfriend, Mack, who herself was known for her extensive tattoos and mohawk or shaven head). War Machine and Mack had been popular on the publicity circuit for their respective lines of businesses, and MMA and porn fans had been carefully following the sensational trial.

Christy Mack tearfully testified in court.

It’s not looking good for War Machine, who attempted suicide in his cell a few years ago. He had turned down two plea deals, one for 16 to life in prison and another for 18 to 40 years, and his sentencing is set for June 5 in Las Vegas. He faces up to life in prison.

The Nike Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 Goes Canvas

Styled for casual wear over performance, it's no surprise to see Nike get experimental with its Air Max construction, as it has with its latest iteration of the Nike Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0. The update swaps the technical mesh and Flyknit we're accustomed to seeing for textile canvas -- a timely design choice as we approach the warmer months. With this in mind, the sneaker is making its debut in a seasonal Light Bone colorway accented by white stitched branding and a gum rubber outsole. The Nike Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 is out now at select Nike suppliers and online at Titolo for approximately $180USD.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast.com
