The awful missed calls that marred March Madness opening weekend

College basketball referees have something of a bad reputation. But then again, sometimes they really earn it.

Our unfortunate latest case in in point: This weekend's second round of March Madness, with seasons, legacies and berths in the Sweet 16 on the line.

Let's start with Sunday's matchup between eight-seed Arkansas and one-seed North Carolina. Carolina's up just one with 45 seconds to play.

Tar Heels point guard Joel Berry II drives right with the shot clock running down. Then he commits an obvious travel and what could easily be called a charge before throwing up a wild attempt that a teammate scoops up and scores. Carolina goes up 68-65 and goes on to win the game 72-65.  Read more...

This Synthetic Silent Desert Installation at the Guggenheim Offers a Place for Solace

The Guggenheim has a profound legacy of introducing immersive and sometimes controversial installations to the public, including last year's usable 18K gold toilet by Maurizio Cattelan titled "America." The highly talked about piece will be followed by a dramatically different installation, formerly called "PSAD Synthetic Desert III" by its creator Doug Wheeler. Inspired by the Arizona Desert where the artist has spent much time, the experience invites its audience to sit on a viewing platform amongst rows of sound-dampening pyramids. The space offers a blanketing serenity as the room appears infinite without edges, washed in soft lighting. Though the piece is only making it's debut now, Wheeler conceived the idea for the silent desert nearly 50 years ago at the height of the California Light and Space Movement -- a period where other such artists like James Turell found their niche. Wheeler's piece opened just yesterday and will run until August 2 at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast.com

Could This be the Mysterious Supreme x Nike Dunk High That Never Released?

In 2015, Sneaker News reported of a supposed Supreme x Nike collaboration discovered by a customer shopping the NYC Supreme location. Apparently shop employees had received red sportswear boxes from Nike, containing red and white leather Dunk Highs. However no official photos ever surfaced to confirm, leaving fans in doubt since Supreme doesn't typically carry sportswear product and the discovery was in-between seasons. Since the rumor two years ago though, images of a possible sample have surfaced via MRBLD's twitter, showing a red and white Dunk Highs that matches the description, with quilted lining and Supreme tags on the uppers. Assumed to have only been sent to friends and family, what do you think of the possible sample?Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast.com
