LSU QB Lowell Narcisse continues to cherish bond with Blaze Brazan

Lowell Narcisse is just 24 hours away from making his debut in Tiger Stadium. However, he had an all-important precursor on his schedule first.

In keeping up with the standard he has set over the past few years, LSU’s freshman quarterback spent a chunk of his Friday morning Facetiming with Blake Brazan, a 9-year-old from Vacherie, La., who has continued to battle leukemia.

You’ll remember that before Narcisse enrolled early at LSU, he made a pit stop at Brazan’s house to say farewell to his young role model. The two continue to stay in touch — evident by their conversation on Friday morning — after growing close to one another over the past couple of years.

Brazan first developed a relationship with Narcisse because he is a diehard fan of St. James (La.) High School, Narcisse’s alma mater. As Brazan battled leukemia, he was encouraged by the Wildcats’ starting quarterback, who at the time was recovering from his first ACL tear. Since then, Brazan has made strides in his fight against cancer as Narcisse underwent a second ACL injury and a long-winding recruitment.

Narcisse enrolled at LSU in January and has continued to regain strength in both knees after tearing his ACL last August. Like the other quarterbacks on the roster competing for a starting job, Narcisse has rocked a gold jersey throughout spring practice, but has moved very well as he learns Matt Canada’s offense.

In between spring game preparation and his first semester on campus, Narcisse has maintained his relationship with Brazan, who is bravely battling this disease.
