If you hate Messenger, you're really not gonna like Facebook's latest update

If you're not a fan of Facebook's bubble-based chatting experience, we have some bad news: your mobile News Feed might soon be even more Messengerized.

Facebook looks to be testing text bubbles in the comment threads of its mobile app. This comes shortly after rolling out a new feature to inundate desktop users with unwanted pop-up tabs every time a friend replies to a comment.

The new mobile comment format was first brought to light by The Next Web's Matt Navarra, who received a screenshot of a bubbly thread from a Twitter follower.  Read more...

First Images Emerge of Paris's Groundbreaking Pont de Bondy Bridge

As part of the massive revamp Paris is giving its rail network, Bjarke Ingels' BIG practice and Silvio D'ascia Architecture have unveiled images of their competition-winning plans for a major metro station in the north east of the city. The competition-winning design for the Pont de Bondy station may not be ready until close to 2030 but it looks set to be worth the wait with its spiral form, terracotta cladding and skylights that bring natural light right down to the deepest platform. According to architecture firm BIG, the station is "conceived as both bridge and tunnel wrapped around a giant atrium, connecting the riverbank to the train landing.” Elsewhere in the city, click here to see images of the minimal Uniqlo U Paris showroom, which launched earlier this year.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast.com

Wheelys Opens 24/7 Cashierless Shop In Shanghai

Loyal readers may remember the Wheelys name from our piece on retail's fiction-free future. After the success of its experimental Viken flagship, the chain has opened its first 24/7 cashierless store in Shanghai. According to the rather tongue-in-cheek video above, the experience is somewhat eerie. In an attempt to deter shoplifters, customers must first link their credit card to the Wheelys app. The store's AI is hooked up to its omnipresent cameras to greet individual customers. Clients then use the Wheelys app to scan their purchases and the app reports if stock is low. Check out the video above and let us know if you'd choose Wheelys over Amazon Go.Read more at Hypebeast.com

Grindr's Landis Smithers Flaunts His Home and Rick Owens Footwear Collection

Grindr creative director Landis Smithers gets the latest spotlight from The Coveteur. The publication recently went to Mr. Smithers's home to take photos of interiors, fascinating objects, and most importantly, his clothing collection. Besides having a beautiful West Hollywood living space, it turns out that Smithers has a keen taste for high-fashion brands. His closet is filled with garments, accessories, and shoes from designers such as Rick Owens, Valentino, Bally, Maison Martin Margiela and more. The Coveteur also talks to the creative about his life and the company's vision. Below are some excerpts: On his fashion phases: “I was a total Ralph Lauren kid from a Ralph Lauren family. Then I left home, became a club kid, wore catsuits, had long hair, and learned how fun clothes could really be. I’ve had too many ‘phases’ to keep track of, but it's settling down.” On Rick Owens: “Rick Owens is for everyone. I know most people think he is ‘edgy,’ but really, taken on their own, his leathers are soft and easy, his knits are like pajamas, and his silhouettes mix easily with a tee or a denim shirt. Even the cashmere dress I got is killer with a leather jacket and boots. It is oddly powerful to put on something and feel both feminine and masculine, yet neither.” On his career and talents: “I was a commercial director for a few years. To be honest, that didn’t work out so well. People didn’t want my POV. ‘Too high-end’ and ‘too arty’ was a common theme. I had picked up a still camera when shooting a hair campaign in Buenos Aires, and suddenly I felt alive. It was like discovering poetry as a writer. Every frame has to be perfect, has to tell a story, has to elevate beyond reality. I grew up obsessed with Herb Ritts and Avedon. And I will shoot until I die because it is such a perfect way to feel nervous, alive, creative, afraid, happy, nauseous, and, ultimately, fulfilled. Plus, cute people are now willing to get naked for me any time I ask.” On how he came to work for Grindr: “They called. I said no. They kept calling. And finally, they said, ‘Look, Landis. If you had a million men every minute on a platform, spending almost an hour a day on that platform, and wanting more, what would you do with it?’ And my mind went ‘boom.’ I sent them a forty-page deck of ideas the next day. Their only question was, ‘How quickly can you do this?’ That’s my kind of job interview.” You can read more of the interview at The Coveteur.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast.com

People don't care who wrote a news story, but they do care who shared it on Facebook

People never remember, or care, who wrote a news story they read. But they really care who shared it on Facebook.  Americans will trust that the story they read isn't fake news if it's shared by someone they trust, according to a new report from the Media Insight Project.  "People who see an article from a trusted sharer, but one written by an unknown media source, have much more trust in the information than people who see the same article that appears to come from a reputable media source shared by a person they do not trust," the report said.  SEE ALSO: Supreme Court weighs a constitutional right to social media access Read more...More about News, Fake News, Media, and Business
