The best women’s gymnastics squads and individual performers in the country are about to earn the reward they’ve waited for all season: A chance to compete in the 2017 NCAA Gymnastics Championships.
We’ll find out which schools and athletes will get their shot this afternoon during the championships selection show, which begins at 4 p.m. ET. The NCAA will announce the 36 regional teams, as well as 24 all-around competitors and 48 individual specialists whom are not on a regional-qualifying team.
Eight SEC teams entered the week with top-36 regional qualifying scores: LSU, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Auburn and Arkansas. Teams and individual gymnasts who do qualify will be placed into one of six regions. All regional meets are scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 1.
From there, 12 teams and the top 12 all-around and specialist competitors will advance to the national semifinals in St. Louis, which take place on April 14.
